Ass. Prof. Aris Chandrinos holds a degree in Optics (BSc.), an MPhil in Neuroscience and Vision Science from the Department of Vision Science & Optometry, Aston University, Birmingham, UK and a PhD in Aspects of a perimetric learning index from the School of Optometry & Vision Sciences, Cardiff University, Wales UK.
He also attended postgraduate Program of “Modern methods in Eye Refraction and Optometry” (1982), at London Course of Optometry (Prof. H.Freeman), postgraduate Intensive Program of “Glass Melting” (1986) at the Department of Ceramics and Glass, at Sheffield University, UK and special training in Cornea Clinic (1989) at the Department of Ophthalmology of the Greek Faculty of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He served as a Clinical Demonstrator at the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, Cardiff University (Wales, UK) in Clinical Investigative Optometric Techniques from 2009 to 2011. He is a Faculty member (ass. Professor) in “Ophthalmic Lenses and Optometry» at the Department of Optics and Optometry at TEI of Athens and Academic Coordinator of the Department for ERASMUS Student Mobility for Placements Program.
He served for 5 years an elected member of the Executive Board for the European Association of Schools & Universities of Optics and Optometry (AEUSCO) and nowadays he is a member of European Academy of Optometry (EAO). He also served as an Academic Professional at the Greek Technological Studies Recognition Committee at DOATAP (Greek NARIC) and even more he has been main examiner for the Greek State Scholarship Institution (IKY) for postgraduate funded courses for Greek students in Optometry abroad. Since 2016, he teaches in the Postgraduate Program for MSc degree of the Department, in Optometric Investigating Techniques and Glaucoma Managment and he is also Supervisor in student Master Thesis. He has participated as principal investigator and scientific director in several research projects and he is a member of the “Optics & Optometry Department» research group at TEI, of Athens. His research interests include “Functional Glaucoma, Automated Perimetry and Visual Field examination”, “High Index Optical Materials”, “Contemporary Ophthalmic Lenses” and other topics on Optics and Optometry. He has taken part in many conferences in Greece and abroad, and has organized and taught a variety of postgraduate and Lifelong Learning seminars in Optometry and Contact Lenses, in Athens and Thessalonica. He is the first author of various scientific publications in international journals of Vision Sciences and Optometry and other educational books in Greek and English languages.
Recently he founded, equipped, organized and he administrates the “Eye Optometric Clinic” (under the TEI of Athens Surgery), which provides Optometric and Ophthalmic Care to all students and personnel of the Institution, under supervision of MD. Ophthalmologist.
